What services does Data Management offer?
We offer book production services including: database publishing (database-driven book production), book composition, proofreading, art preparation and photo manipulation, and online photo directories. We do not provide “ink on paper” printing. However, the vast majority of the work we produce gets printed on an offset printing press. Our focus is on preparing books for that printing process. See

What equipment does Data Management use?
We use a combination of Macs, Windows PCs, printers, and scanners. Each production worker has a Mac, and the final step in every project is to produce a press-optimized PDF file with embedded PostScript fonts. Our programmers have three computers on their workstations, a Mac and two PCs.

What kinds of data can I submit?
We work with a wide variety of data files: Access, Excel, Word, ASCII text files, fixed field files, and other data types. The most common way for clients to furnish files for database driven production is in the form of MS Excel spreadsheets. Frequently several spreadsheets, or several tabs, are required.

What methods can I use to submit data?
Many clients transfer files to us via e-mail attachments or FTP file transfers. We also accept all the common media types. Often our clients submit large projects on CD-ROM or DVD.

What will Data Management supply as the final product?
Today our final product is most frequently a press-optimized PDF file ready for print production. We also make E-Books.

What kind of proof will I receive?
You can ask for paper proofs, a PDF proof, or both. To facilitate rapid production, our clients often prefer electronic proofs, a PDF file attached to an email message.
