Data Management is a book production service
located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our roots go back
more than 30 years to the days of hot metal
typesetting. At that time we were called a
typesetter. Today however, because the
technology has changed so dramatically, the term
“typesetter” is not commonly used.
We perform the composition step in making books,
directories and catalogs. In today’s typical
workflow, our customers furnish Word, Excel, and
other types of data along with design
specifications. Using these customer supplied
files we compose finished pages. The typical
final product is a press-optimized PDF file
ready for the printing process.

Using the database publishing workflow we produce:

membership directories, photo directories or photo

directories, rosters,
and white-page directories.

|
We compose scholarly books, trade books, textbooks, and
catalogs for book publishers,
printers, and manufacturers. |

|
Because of the power and convenience of the Web, we offer
online photo directories, or dynamic websites with a
searchable database.

We
stay current on the following software: QuarkXPress,
Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop,
Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, & GoLive), VersaComp,
PitStop, MarksTools,
MathType, MacLink Plus, OmniPage Pro, Xdata, Xtags,
and
Xcatalog. We’ve also written
hundreds of our own custom utilities that greatly
enhance our capabilities.
