Manual Method |

Producing catalogs can be an involved and laborious
task. Many elements must be coordinated. DMI is tops in this

Programmatic Method |

described above, the composition of some catalogs can be
automated. While this solution may not work in every case,
if you can supply a reliable database, and if the page
layout has some consistency, we have some good news for
you. We are able to fully automate the composition of some
complex, database-driven catalogs. This has the huge
advantage of allowing updates right up to press-time. The
benefits should be obvious. Catalogs are usually “moving
targets” of information. It is often necessary to update the
data because of a variety of last minute changes. With this
solution, we take your sample database and develop all of
the necessary programming. You are then able to make changes
right up to the final deadline when the print-ready PDF file
must be sent to your printer. Using this workflow we can
often provide these files within 24 hours of the receipt of
your final data. |

The Blended Workflow |
|
By this
we mean a workflow that is database driven, but still allows
for manually building each page of the catalog. This
workflow has some obvious advantages. The information is
pulled directly from the database. Therefore, updates to
prices, graphics, and product information can be automated.
At the same time, the pages are built within an environment
that allows operator intervention. This provides virtually
unlimited options for page layout. |
